Joshua McGuire (Briar Cudgeon) AFC Interview!

We’re absolutely delighted to bring you Artemis Fowl Confidential’s interview with the one and only Joshua McGuire, who plays BRIAR CUDGEON in Disney’s Artemis Fowl.

Joshua McGuire has starred opposite Daniel Radcliffe in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, popular British TV shows such as Lovesick and Misfits, and a very wide range of theatrical productions.

When asked if he had read Artemis Fowl prior to taking on the role of Briar Cudgeon:

“I hadn’t, no, you know when I was at school I kind of just missed it in terms of my kind of age bracket though I was certainly familiar with it, probably seeing the posters up around school you know of the book covers and such. But as soon as you know the film was happening, I got straight on it. I think I’ve got a couple of each book now actually as numerous people sent me numerous copies. I was certainly familiar with it by the time we started shooting.”

On preparing for the role:

“You know – do your homework. Briar’s in two of the books… if there’s source material there absolutely, it’s priceless. It was great to read the books and find what little bits you could about Briar before even starting.”

On the costume:

It’s such an amazing costume that was replicated for the entire army and all of the different ranks of the LEP. Mine was slightly different in that there was more black in it, there were shoulder pads, it had a cravat. It was a nice little touch that was our costume designer’s idea at the last minute you know, there’s a little bit of flair.
